"Crazy
Ain't so Bad"

You
told me I was crazy
when I walked without my shoes
in thick summer grass, and brittle forest floors.
You smiled and laughed when I dove
into fresh water fully dressed;
and still no footwear to be found.
But now I feel like sitting
staring at the sky...
The sun is too bright,
and the night sky too dark.
The grass is too wet,
and the summer air is dry.
I wish that I can say
something happy, something silly
and dance around with sunflowers,
and sing and laugh in the rain
again...
with you.
I wish that we could run off
into the woods near our homes,
and leave behind the loud parties
to secret whispers in the wind.
I wish that we were running
laughing in the blowing grasses;
just us - you and me.
I miss you... do you miss me?
Sometimes I can see the flicker
pass through your eyes,
as you look at me and smile.
You remember too...
Throw away my fears!
Cast off responsibility!
You tell me with your sigh,
'Why can't you be free?'
you ask me with sad eyes...
I miss me too;
o'Lord! Do I miss me too...
But at least I can remember
how good you smelled
when we were caught in a spring rain,
and how we used to laugh for years;
forgetting the snow that stranded us
mid-January.
And I will know forever
that I did dance with sunflowers
and sing in the rain.
And I will cherish forever
that you dove into the waters too.
